WEALDEN RETURNING TO INDOOR BOWLS - GUIDELINES

The following information sets out how the Wealden Indoor Bowls Club will re-open with measures that will make it safe for members to enter the club. All members entering the club will have to strictly adhere to the guidance set out below. If you have symptoms of Covid-19 high temperature, persistent new cough or loss of taste and smell, in the previous 14 days DO NOT come to the club. DO NOT visit if you are living with or have been in contact with anyone that may have a Covid-19 infection. If you have or contract Covid-19 please notify the club if you have previously visited. You can only enter the club if you have previously booked.

BOOKINGS
Only full members will be permitted to bowl and must book in advance by telephone to Administrator, Kate Blackaller on 018250767690. Bookings taken on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 10.15 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. You will be allocated a rink number. As a trial period members may book a maximum of one week in advance no later than 24 hrs prior. ENTRANCE AND EXIT
Doors will only open 15 minutes before play
Entrance and exit through usual main entrance door - Social distancing (2 metres)
Masks face covering (not visor) must be worn at all times (no exemption allowed - except a few moments for drink purposes only)
Sanitise hands on entrance
You must go straight to your designated seating i.e. as defined by designated rink number
Please leave all personal items at your seat i.e. bowls bags, outdoor shoes, and clothes - place under and on chair
One way systems in operation, directional signage and barriers are in place.
Members must leave within 15 minutes of finished play.

CHANGING ROOMS AND LOCKERS
No access to either.
You must not arrive in your bowling shoes but change at your allocated seat.
You must bring and take home your bowls equipment i.e. bowls, shoes, measure etc.
Always stand on rink as soon as you have put your bowls shoes on to enable social distancing.

DRESS CODE
Casual smart – for this Covid-19 period only

BAR AND RESTAURANT
Will be closed – no drinking water available. Bring your own water.

TOILETS
Disable toilet for ladies.
1st WC in the gents for men will be available.
Paper towels and hand sanitiser to be used. Queue in hallway 2 metres apart

PLAYING BOWLS
ALWAYS SOCIAL DISTANCE ON THE GREEN
Maximum players – triples
Tickets in one pot per rink
No hand shaking
“T” will be placed 4 metres from ditch. Allowing social distance behind mat and jack with appropriate red dot standing markings on green.
Walking along rinks will be one way – left side as a clock rotation.
No stopping in middle of rink as you change ends
Mats and jacks will be disinfected in between sessions.
No scoreboards in use – scorecards available to be used by designated member only
Only one lead to handle mat. Only one skip to pick up the mat. One jack per side.
Use of foot by skips for jack position (no touching jack by hand)
Remove shot bowls by foot only (not by hand)
Delegate one person to measure (own measure)
Only use spray chalk to mark woods
All ditch markers have been removed.
If jack goes in ditch – play as no end
Only touch your own bowls and remove your own bowls from the ditch once the end is completed – do not hand pass bowls to other players.
Smokers – please note you will not be able to leave the building during play for a cigarette break.
Please sanitise your own bowls when you get home.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT AND CLUB
This will be carried out by Kate Blackaller and normal cleaner between each session.
Extra sanitising and disinfecting of door handles, rails, seating, jacks, mats, taps, toilet etc. will take place during day and by cleaners overnight.

 

 

For the health and safety of all our members any person who does not comply with guidelines will be asked to leave the premises.

We require you the members to respect the guidelines, to use sanitiser, wash hands regularly and keep your distance. Please consider other members during these difficult times. We know you all have the club at heart and look forward to working together for the club during this pandemic.
