You are invited to submit your entries to next season’s Club Competitions as soon as possible; please note that entries must be received by the end of Sunday 7 October 2018.

Most competitions are played on Saturday and Sunday mornings and evenings, with some (usually men’s) competitions also being played on Monday evenings, alternating with the Monday Night Mixed Triples.

Please be aware that competitions may not be played after the set dateHowever (if necessary) by arrangement with your opponent they may be played before the set date and Saturday competitions may be rearranged for the following day. Substitutes are permitted in an emergency (for details see the Club Competition Rules). Please note that it is the expectation of WIBC that all players/teams will endeavour to agree a suitable date for re-arrangement; if this cannot be achieved, the Competition Secretaries should be informed.

The Monday Night Mixed Triples competition is played from 6.30 pm to completion on alternate Monday evenings and is a full game of 18 ends. Each team should comprise 3 people with at least one person of the opposite gender and 2 reserves, one of each gender.

Players in both Men’s and Ladies’ Singles competitions who lose their first game will automatically be entered into the Singles Plate, which is played as 3 sets of 7 ends, with the winner winning 2 of the sets. Should the game be drawn after 3 sets or 2 hours, whichever is sooner, an extra end will be played. Players giving a walkover in the Singles competitions do not qualify for the Singles Plate.

The following drawn competitions are open to full members of Wealden Indoor Bowls Club who have not previously won a WIBC club competition.

  • Backbone Trophy:  2 players, 2 bowls each; first team to 100 shots; time limit 2 hours; no trial ends.

The Backbone is scored as follows: nearest to the jack = 4, 2nd bowl = 3, 3rd bowl = 2, 4th bowl = 1; first team to 100 shots wins the game. There is a green baize strip at the Green Steward’s desk to assist scoring as the bowls are removed.

  • Drawn Triples: 3 players, 3 bowls each; 18 ends; time limit 4 hours including trial ends.
  • Drawn Fours:  4 players, 2 bowls each; 21 ends; time limit 4 hours including trial ends.

These are ideal competitions for a first experience of competitive bowling.
For full details see separate sheet Drawn Competitions.

Please ensure that you have read and understood the Competition Rules, which will be updated for next season and will be found on the Competitions Notice Board adjacent to Rink 1 and on the club website www.bowlswealden.co.uk
